How to get to Idanha-a-Velha

If you come from Lisbon by car, you should take the A1 and take the exit 7 to the A23 towards Abrantes/Castelo Branco/Torres Novas. Then, take the exit 24 to N352 towards Alcains/Penamacor and proceed to the N18. Take the N233 and N239 to the N332 to Idanha-a-Velha.

If you come from Oporto you should take the A1 and take the exit 16 to the A25 towards Viseu/Guarda. Then, take the exit 30 to converge with the A23/IP2 towards Guarda Sul/Covilhã/Portalegre. Take the exit 28 towards the N18/Fundão Sul/N346/Penamacor. Proceed on the N18 and N239 to the N332 to Idanha-a-Velha.

By rail, the Beira Baixa railway line is an alternative for those who prefer to travel by train. The nearest station of Idanha-a-Velha is Castelo Branco at about 49 km.

The nearest airports of Idanha-a-Velha are the Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, at 268km, and the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Oporto, at 298km. Barajas airport in Madrid, is at 378km of Idanha-a-Velha.
