Cookies Policy
At the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI), we use cookies and similar technologies on our website www.responsibletourisminstitute.com. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies we use, for what purpose, and how you can accept or reject them or withdraw your consent, in accordance with Article 22(2) of Spanish Law 34/2002 of 11 July on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI), Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Spanish Data Protection Agency's Guide on the use of cookies.
The use of cookies may involve the processing of personal data. To find out how we process your data and how to exercise your rights, we also recommend that you consult our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your device (computer, mobile phone or tablet) when you access certain web pages. Among other things, cookies allow information about your browsing habits or those of your device to be stored and retrieved and, depending on the information they contain and the way you use your device, they may be used to recognise you.
Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while others remain on your device for a set period (persistent cookies). Cookies may be managed by us (first-party cookies) or by other entities (third-party cookies). The information collected by some cookies, such as unique identifiers or IP addresses, may be considered personal data.
When this policy refers to "cookies", we also mean other similar technologies that store or retrieve information on your device, such as pixels or web beacons, the browser's local storage (HTML5), or techniques that combine information to identify a device (fingerprinting).
Cookies do not damage your device. The cookies we use never store sensitive information, such as passwords or payment card details.
2. What types of cookies do we use?
According to who manages them:
- First-party cookies: these are sent to your device from a domain managed by RTI.

According to how long they remain on your device:
- Session cookies: these are deleted when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies: these remain on your device for the period indicated in the table in Section 3.
According to their purpose:
- Technical cookies: allow you to browse the website and use its options or services, for example controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items in an order, completing the purchase process, applying to register for a service or event, using security features while browsing or remembering your cookie preferences. They are necessary for the website to function and do not require your consent.
- Preference cookies: allow you to access the service with certain predefined features based on criteria from your device, such as language, browser type or regional settings. Where you expressly request them (for example, when choosing a language), they are exempt from consent.
- Analytics cookies: allow us or third parties to quantify the number of users and to measure and statistically analyse how they use the website, in order to improve our services. They are only installed if you accept them.
- Advertising and behavioural advertising cookies: allow advertising space to be managed and, where applicable, a profile to be built from the observation of your browsing habits in order to show you advertising tailored to it. They are only installed if you accept them. [State whether they are currently used; if not, replace this paragraph with: “We do not currently use advertising or behavioural advertising cookies.”]
